The theme of  Women’s History Month in 2024 is “Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.”

Past themes include “Women Taking the Lead to Save our Planet” in 2009, “Valiant Women of the Vote: Refusing to be Silenced” in 2020 and 2021, “Providing Healing, Promoting Hope” in 2022 and “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories” in 2023, according to National Geographic Kids.

Why Celebrate Women's History Month

Women’s History Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions and achievements of women throughout history. The month-long observance aims to highlight the often-overlooked accomplishments of women in various fields such as science, literature, politics, arts, and more. It is an opportunity to honor the trailblazers who have paved the way for gender equality and to inspire future generations of women. During Women’s History Month, events, exhibitions, and educational programs are organized to raise awareness about women’s achievements and the ongoing fight for gender equality.
