Richard's Coffee Shop & Military Museum
Richard’s Coffee Shop and Military Museum in Mooresville, North Carolina, is a unique and cherished community space that combines the warmth of a local coffee shop with the honor of a military museum. Founded by the late Richard Warren, a Vietnam veteran, the shop became known as “The Most Patriotic Coffee Shop in America.” It serves as a gathering place for veterans of all branches and eras, providing camaraderie and support over coffee.
The Military Museum
The adjoining museum is a tribute to the sacrifices of the military, showcasing memorabilia from various wars, including uniforms, medals, and letters from soldiers. The shop’s “Living Military Museum” concept creates a dynamic space where veterans share their stories and experiences with visitors, making it a place not only for remembrance but also for fostering intergenerational understanding. Every Thursday morning, veterans gather for “Welcome Home Veterans,” a weekly event to honor their service. This special blend of coffee, conversation, and history has made Richard’s a beloved institution in the Mooresville community.
Welcome Home Veterans
Sadly, in May of 2009, Richard died of complications from exposure to Agent Orange. He had spent many years of his life providing assistance and support to veterans. But, just months before he passed
away he started forming a non-profit organization and he wanted it to be named “Welcome Home Veterans”. This non-profit would oversee and keep Richard’s dream, to see that what he started grew and
continue to recognize, serve, support, and honor those who gave so much.
