Table of Contents

If you have been searching for a place that serves big flavors without taking itself too seriously, Lil Papi’s International Deli in Concord, NC needs to be on your list. Tucked into Concord, this local owned deli has built a reputation for serving creative sandwiches and international-inspired dishes that make it nearly impossible to order just one thing.  As someone who loves discovering great local food around the Charlotte area, I am always excited when I find a spot that feels like a genuine hidden gem. Trust me, Lil Papi’s is one of those places you will want to tell your friends about.

A Little About Lil Papi's International Deli

Lil Papi’s International Deli describes itself as a place for authentic sandwiches from around the world, and that description really does fit. The menu pulls inspiration from a wide range of culinary traditions, including Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Greece, Peru, Argentina, Vietnam, Jamaica, and more.  Located at 1096 Concord Parkway North, Unit 7, Lil Papi’s has become a destination for people who want something beyond the standard sandwich shop experience. It is the kind of restaurant where you can walk in planning to grab a quick lunch and suddenly find yourself debating whether you should order a Cuban-inspired sandwich, a quesadilla, an arepa, or a rice bowl.

What's on the Lil Papi's Menu?

Now let’s get to the important stuff: the food. The Lil Papi’s menu is much bigger than your typical deli menu. You will find hot sandwiches, cold subs and paninis, quesadillas, rice bowls, arepas, salads, sides, desserts, drinks, and house-made sauces. The international theme is what makes the menu so much fun. Instead of sticking to one style of cuisine, Lil Papi’s takes you on a little food trip without requiring a passport.

Sandwiches With Serious Personality

The sandwich selection is where Lil Papi’s really shines. Some of the popular choices include The Godfather, Primo Italiano, Buenos Aires, San Juan Tripleta, Lil Havana, Istanbul, Banh Mi, and the NY Chop Cheese. The Godfather is a great example of the deli’s approach, combining ham, capicola, salami, pepperoni, and provolone. The #4 Ultimate is another hearty option, featuring house-roasted beef, oven-baked turkey, bacon, Swiss cheese, and mayo. If you prefer something lighter or meat-free, the Santorini is loaded with spinach, feta, Kalamata olives, avocado, hummus, tomatoes, onion, spices, and Greek dressing. It can also be prepared hot as a panini.

More Than Just Sandwiches

This is where things get even more interesting. The menu includes quesadillas, rice bowls, and arepas, so you can visit several times and have a completely different meal every time. The Caribbean rice bowl, for example, combines pulled beef, grilled onions and peppers, black beans, cabbage, tomatoes, and avocado. That variety is one of my favorite things about Lil Papi’s. It gives you a reason to keep coming back.

Lil Papi’s Menu Favorites to Try

With so many choices, picking your first meal can feel like a serious responsibility. I would start with one of these customer-loved options:

The Godfather for a classic Italian-inspired sandwich loaded with meats and provolone.

Primo Italiano for another popular Italian-style favorite.

San Juan Tripleta for a Puerto Rican-inspired option that local diners rave about.

Buenos Aires for a substantial sandwich with big flavors.

NY Chop Cheese if you want to try one of the deli’s most talked-about sandwiches.

Kingston Quesadilla if you are in the mood for something cheesy and hearty.

Banh Mi for a fun Vietnamese-inspired choice.

Santorini for a flavorful vegetarian-friendly option.

Caribbean Rice Bowl when you want something beyond a sandwich.

Jamaican Jerk-inspired options if you like bold, spicy flavors.

Customer reviews regularly highlight The Godfather, San Juan Tripleta, Kingston Quesadilla, Philly, and other sandwiches as favorites. One reviewer even called the Kingston Quesadilla the best quesadilla they had ever eaten.  My advice? Do not overthink it. Pick something that sounds delicious, then start planning your next visit for everything you did not order the first time.

Customer Service That Feels Local

Great food gets people through the door, but great service is what makes them come back. That seems to be part of the Lil Papi’s experience. Customers frequently mention the friendly staff, helpful service, and comfortable atmosphere. Reviews describe employees as accommodating and welcoming, with several diners specifically praising the friendly interaction they had during their visit.

Now, a popular restaurant can sometimes get busy, especially around lunch. Some customer reviews mention longer waits during peak periods. But that is also a reminder that these sandwiches are made to order and that a busy local restaurant is often a good sign.  If you are visiting during a busy lunch hour, give yourself a little extra time. Personally, I would rather wait a little longer for a fresh sandwich than rush through something that has been sitting under a heat lamp.

Lil Papi's and the Concord Community

What I appreciate about local restaurants is that their impact goes beyond the food.  Lil Papi’s has become recognizable enough within the Concord community to take part in local events, including the 2025 Concord Christmas Parade, where the business appeared in the parade lineup.  That kind of visibility is part of what makes locally owned restaurants special. They become part of the fabric of the community. People celebrate milestones there, grab lunch with coworkers, introduce friends to their favorite menu items, and eventually start referring to the restaurant as one of “their spots.”  Lil Papi’s also offers catering, giving customers another way to bring its food into gatherings and events. For a local food lover, that is exactly the kind of business I want to see succeed.

There are plenty of places to grab a sandwich around the Charlotte region, but Lil Papi’s International Deli offers something different.  It is the variety, it is the personality, it is the international inspiration behind the menu.  Lastly, it is the feeling that you have stumbled across a place that locals know is special and that you cannot wait to introduce to someone else.

Whether you are craving an Italian-style sandwich, a Puerto Rican-inspired creation, a quesadilla, an arepa, or a loaded rice bowl, there is a good chance you will find something that catches your attention. Once you find a favorite, good luck sticking with it. The menu is simply too tempting.
